Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience processing FMLA/ADA requests or conducting chart reviews and case management. Must be familiar with Word and Excel. Superb customer service skills a must. Experience with PeopleSoft and PeopleSoft query functions preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Prior experience in a K-12 setting preferred.

Essential Functions

· Advise and assist management staff in the application and interpretation of human resources policies, legal and union contract compliance as applies to ADA, FMLA, DOT and Leave Management in general. Actively participates in grievance and other administrative hearings.

· Use standardized, strategic approach, assesses Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Leave Management strategies to ensure alignment with DPSCD strategies and core objectives. Ensure that ADA, FMLA determinations are made in accordance with state or federal guidelines to maintain compliance; performs any related clerical duties to finish the task. Makes presentations to hiring managers/administrators and teachers on Leaves of Absence and ADA and regulatory/legal compliance. Serves as a witness of fact, when appropriate, in specified grievance, mediation, arbitration and other administrative hearings.

· Assist employees who request job modifications/accommodations in order to support their return-to-work and stay-at-work efforts. Identifies needs, develops long-range plans and initiatives, provides strategic planning and advice, and recommends new policies, procedures and practices.

· Assist with new hire TB screening as required.

· Must be able to establish trusting and cooperative relationships and ensure the confidential nature of information including the privacy and confidentiality of all information and data through appropriate security processes.

· Provide human resources consultation and medical and professional support for the district to include evaluation and competency of employees with emotional disorders and substance abuse; monitor compliance of aftercare program (e.g. Last Chance Agreements.) Conduct confidential interviews and telephone calls, when indicated, to facilitate treatment.

· Keep abreast of changing Federal and State regulations and legislation that may affect employee benefits; maintain up-to-date and thorough knowledge of employee benefit provisions and eligibility requirements and provide an impact analysis as legislative and/or contractual changes occur.

· Provide superb customer service to all customers and stakeholders.

· Review, assess and recommend approval or denial of employee leave requests, including but not limited to Family Medical Leave (FMLA) requests.

· Review, assess and recommend approval or denial of employee Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requests.

· Create and analyze reports related but not limited to employee leaves and accommodations.

· Determine an employee’s eligibility for leave and provide timely communication to employee and supervisor regarding leave status.

· Assist with vendor management via handling requests and issues as needed, including invoice review/audit.

· Maintain electronic leave and ADA PeopleSoft 9.2 tracking systems.
· Conduct worksite/school evaluations as needed regarding accommodation needs and employee’s fit for duty status/concerns.

· Serve on the Leave Review Committee and present/interpret medical facts to the Leave Review Committee for determination.

· Serve as liaison between employee, family members, supervisor, doctor, Independent Medical Examination (IME) and other service providers and the District.

· Responsible for ensuring HIPPA compliance.

· Recommend and implement improvements to policies and procedures to ensure utilization of best practices.

· Responsible for leveraging technology to improve processes, procedures and customer service.

· Assist Benefits as needed.

· Assist in maintaining the District’s Employee Wellness Program.

· Complete all other duties as assigned.
