We are seeking Social Workers to support our client for the 2021-2022 school year.

SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Demonstrate adequate knowledge of special education rules and regulations and maintain compliant practices and protocols.
* Establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, students and parents/guardians.
* Facilitate family interventions and referrals of children and families to appropriate community resources.
* Coordinate crisis teams and provide intervention and follow-up for students who experience trauma or are actively in crises.
* Provide consultation and education to school staff, parents, support groups.
* Plan and present opportunities for stakeholders (parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, students and other related school personnel) to learn about mental health.
* Initiate, participate in, and follow through on MET (Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation Team)/IEPT procedures as appropriate.
* Coordinate the Initial and 3-year evaluations for students suspected or previously identified as having an Emotional Impairment (EI) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
* Select and implement appropriate assessment procedures (including teacher and parent input, classroom observations, case history, standardized tests and informal tests, etc.) as deemed appropriate to determine eligibility for special education.
* Interpret assessment findings clearly to parents /guardians and attendees at Individual Educational Planning Team (IEPT) meetings.
* Evaluation of student progress; completing and submitting required progress reports to parents.
* Collaborate with school psychologists and teachers in the completion of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and participate in Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDRs).
* Create and maintain and environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the abilities of the students.
* Participate on the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) or Resource Coordinating Team (RCT) and collaborate on the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), Sensory Integration and other Response to Intervention (RTI) efforts as appropriate.
* Attend school staff meetings and discipline specific staff meetings.
* Maintain accurate and complete records as required by special education law, district policy and administrative regulations; submit same at designated times. Records include, but are not limited to, service, statistical and compliance monitoring reports; all on-line documentation in Power School Special Programs (i.e., meeting invitations, ER, IEPT, progress notes, etc.) and EdPlan (i.e., Medicaid billing and daily/month progress documentation).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
* Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
* Minimum of two (2) years post Social Work Master’s degree experience, working as a Social Worker with school-aged children and families.
* Valid State of Michigan Master's Social Worker license, issued by the State of Michigan, Department of Licensing and Regulations, and Full Approval as a School Social Worker issued by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services.
* Applicants not holding Full Approval must be eligible for Temporary or Continuing Temporary Approval.
