SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Advocate for parents in accessing needed resources and support services.
* Collaborate with other staff in developing plans for activities and strategize on program development and implementation and comply with required documentation and record keeping responsibilities for both the classroom functioning and for individual children.
* Assist in lesson planning, creating, and implementing a dynamic daily program for children in conjunction with the Early Childhood Teacher.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION FOR ELL TEACHER
* Bilingual Spanish/English speaking
* Two to three years of experience in an Early Childhood setting and demonstrated capacity in planning classroom activities, observing children's behaviors, and maintaining educational records.
* Minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent plus a CDA in Infants and Toddlers
* Current First Aid certificate within 30 days of employment (maintain current certificate during employment).
* Flexibility in regards to schedules, sharing of tasks, and changes in routines and plans.
* Knowledge of State and local rules and regulations, which govern childcare, NAEYC accreditation standards, and District of Columbia Standards; Early Childhood Development standards in the areas of health, safety and nutrition; and state regulations governing the identification
* Ability to provide services to all children and families with respect and dignity.

ADVANTAGES
* Develop individualized academic programs designed to meet the specific needs of ELL students (to include LEP/NEP)
* Implement the individualized programs by working with small groups of students to improve their language skills and academic performance
*Confer and co-plan with SSMA Montessori classroom teachers, and other specialists, as appropriate, to determine and support the English language learning and other academic needs of ELL student
* Continually communicate with children on instructional and behavioral expectations to keep them informed of their progress
* Expertise and experience with instructional best practices for ELLs
*Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multi-aged students, staff and a multicultural community

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
*Bachelor's Degree in Education and/or a related discipline acquired from an accredited college or university required; Master's Degree preferred
*Teaching license from an accredited college, university or approved program preferred
*Prior experience in a Montessori and/or K- 6 classroom environment preferred
*Prior classroom experience in a traditional public or public charter school
*Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally underserved and/or English Language Learner students
