One of our clients is seeking a Principle to provide leadership at a school in Roanoke.

SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Responsible for the day to day operation of the school which includes the organization, administration, and supervision of the instructional program within the school.
* Communicates a clear vision of excellence and continuous improvement consistent with the goals of the agency
* Manage human, material, and financial resources to ensure student learning and to comply with legal mandates
* Plan, implement, support, and assess instructional programs that enhance teaching and student achievement of the Standards of Learning including Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals
* Ensure that staff members design coherent instruction based upon knowledge of the students’ IEP’s, subject matter, current instructional practices, the community, and curriculum goals
* Ensure that staff members plan instruction to achieve desired objectives that reflect the students’ IEP’s and the Virginia Standards of Learning
* Administer school rules and regulations which conform to established and approved regulations, standards, protocols and procedures of the school
* Create a supportive learning environment for all students that encourages social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation
* Interpret all licensure, VAISEF and DOE regulations and mandates; and ensures that all regulations are accurately maintained
* Demonstrate effective organizational skills to achieve school, community goals
* Hold regular faculty meetings and maintains effective communication with all school personnel
* Actively participate in the selection of staff by reviewing applicants, interviewing and making recommendations for hire
* Supervise, develop and evaluate staff subject to agency human resources practices and policies
* Provide staff development programs consistent with program evaluation results and school instructional improvement plans
* Assume responsibility coordination of transportation policies and procedures and for assigning faculty member(s) to supervise the loading and unloading of school buses and parent pick-up and drop-off station(s)
* Assume responsibility for the supervision of students during the school day, while being transported to and from school, on school trips and during any activity or function sponsored by the school and attended by students
* Employ various processes for gathering, analyzing, and using data for decision-making
* Maintain licensure at the State and/or national level, assume responsibility for professional growth and keeps materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
* Graduate degree from accredited college or university.
* Eligibility or possession of a Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in Special Education and/or Administration/Supervision K-12
* Thorough knowledge of general and special education principles, methodology of effective teaching and administration, school division rules, regulations, and procedures
* Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior
* Ability to deliver articulate effective and professional oral presentations and written reports
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members
* Demonstrates leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents and parents
* Appropriate manner including poise, tact, good judgment and ability to work effectively with personnel, community representatives, parents and children
* Ability to travel to multiple school sites and to conferences with some overnight stays
* Ability to drive agency vehicle
* Ability to travel to other sites, locations, field trips with students
* Ability to utilize MS Office and learn a variety of software
* Ability to complete, CPR and First Aid Training
