Our client is seeking a School Psychologuist to perform a full range of psychological services in an educational setting, enabling students to achieve optimal learning. This includes evaluation, counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, threat and risk assessment, staff development, research, case record management, and educational planning and coordination with outside agencies.

* Provide psychological counseling individually and in groups for students who have behavioral, emotional, social or academic problems that affect their academic performance or their ability to interact well with others.
* Select and administer age appropriate psychological tests, assessment methods, and materials to determine the needs of the student.
* Consult with teachers, administrators, special education staff, parents and outside agencies to identify and develop interventions that address the academic, behavioral, or social and emotional needs of students.
* Conduct individual child evaluations designed to identify strengths and weaknesses that can be used to develop effective interventions.
* Select, administer, analyze and interpret results of psychological and psycho-educational assessment procedures.
* Analyze and interpret assessment data using statistical techniques, knowledge of instruments and understanding of disabling conditions.
* Integrate findings into systematic case formulations and plan for intervention through written reports and oral presentation of results.
* Gather background information on the student's psychological history by conducting behavioral observations, making home visits, conducting interviews, and reviewing school records.
* Recommend instructional accommodations for both regular and special education students through 504 Plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
* Provide teachers and parents with information about appropriate developmental tasks and expectations in cognitive, social, communication, physical and self-help areas.
* Communicate case findings and recommendations to teachers and other school personnel as needed.
* Conduct in-service training and workshops for teachers and staff.
* Participate in eligibility committee meetings and contributes to the development of the Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior-Intervention Plans (BIPs).
* Consult with teachers and other school personnel to obtain information regarding the reason for referral.
* Provide follow-up support and periodic re-evaluation services as necessary.
* Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

* Master's of School Psychology, or a program deemed equivalent by the Virginia Department of Education review consisting of 60 graduate semester hours, plus one year internship
* Eligibility for a Virginia License as a School Psychologist
* Experience working with children and adolescents in a school, clinic or hospital setting
* Knowledge of psychological theory and practice, including measurement, assessment and test theory, diagnostic categories, personality assessment, learning disabilities, child development, substance abuse, statistics, and counseling theories.
* Knowledge of and adherence to legal procedures as contained in local, state, and federal policies governing special education and student services, including IDEA and Section 504 laws and guidelines.
* Knowledge of and adherence to professional and ethical standards of the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists.
* Knowledge of counseling techniques, behavioral management techniques, classroom instructional and crisis interventions, RTI/MTSS, and parent training strategies.
* The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, families, team members, and others.
* Excellent communication and time management skills.
