Our Client is seeking a Teacher's Assistant - Special Education to support children with special needs in the Palatine area.

The Teacher's Assistant will provide care to developmentally disabled individuals to promote emotional and social growth in a school setting. Among other responsibilities, the Teacher's Assistant will:
*In conjunction with the Lead Teacher, develop and regularly monitor child education binders for each child and ensure all confidential information is protected.
*As assigned by the classroom teacher, monitor and ensure that daily attendance, health checks, parent sign/scan in, and meal participation reports are completed daily.
*Assume responsibility for the management of the classroom during the Teacher's absence.
*Provide opportunities for children to develop positive self-images and experience success.
*In conjunction with the classroom teaching team, plan and implement developmentally appropriate experiences that will promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child and support their school readiness.
*Ensure goals are made with parents and are reflected in children's individual plans.
*Ensure all children are under appropriate supervision at all times and no child is left unattended.
*As assigned by the Lead Teacher, schedule and conduct Parent/Staff conferences and adhere to the parent/staff conference guidance policy.
*Administer medication as needed (ex. Nebulizer treatment, Epipen).
*Identify any developmental concerns regarding the children and follow agency protocol.
*Develop and maintain observation, technological and individualization skills required for assessment and lesson planning, including completing all assigned TSG modules and trainings.
*Employ special education strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
*Experience in educating children with special needs preferred.
*Clearance of background check by DCFS.
*A biannual physical exam and TB test

*HEAD START - Associate's degree in ECE, CD, OR 60 credit hours with a minimum of 15 credit hours of credit in ECE or CD or Preschool CDA. One year experience in Early Childhood or Child Care Program.
*EARLY HEAD START - Associate's degree in ECE, CD, OR 60 credit hours with a minimum of 15 credits , 6 credits of which are in infant/toddler development), plus a Level 3 infant/toddler credential or infant/toddler CDA. One year experience in early childhood or child care program
*Minimum of 6 months experience in an early childhood program.
*Maintain required certifications and continuing education.
*Strong verbal communication skills
*Must be able to remain abreast of developments in the child care field to enhance professional growth and development.
