Our Client is seeking a motivated professional to work as a Residential Counselor in the Washington DC, Adelphi, Hyattsville, and Silver Spring MD areas.
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Support individuals who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities, and possibly physical, medical, and/or behavioral disabilities
* Provide a secure and responsive environment that enables consumers to maximize their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual capabilities
* Provide guidance to residents regarding social skills, transportation, health and personal hygiene, food preparation, and housekeeping
* Provide and assist with transportation to appointments, community events, and outings
* Provide independent living skills training as needed
CLIENT'S REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Successful candidates will have a passion for assisting others with their daily activities, accompanying them to doctor appointments, performing light housekeeping duties, running errands, and providing companionship.
* A minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent
* Minimum of six (6) months experience in social services or supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
* Demonstrated ability in strong communication and computer skills
* Must have a valid Driver's License, and acceptable driving record
* Ability to interact with clients and consumers in a positive manner within the community
* Ability to work with a diverse group of people in a team setting
