CLIENT'S HOURS
* Monday - Friday during school hours
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
Teaching Assistant
Organizational Relationship: Reports to School Director/Teacher.
Description: A NYS certified Teaching Assistant who provides direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a New York State certified Special Education Teacher.
CLIENT'S REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES
*Complete required orientation.
*Ensure health, safety & welfare of individuals.
*Complete required program documentation (e.g. Employee Medicals, PPD etc.)
*Maintain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification.
*One-on-one or small group instruction as outlined by the teacher.
*Reinforce behavior through the use of positive behavior support.
*Teach daily living skills such as independent feeding, dressing, toileting.
*Aide related service providers and adaptive physical education providers during Instruction as needed.
*Guide and assist students in small group instruction settings with class routines and
in transitioning from one activity to the next.
*Teach students, under direction of teacher in the following areas: recreation, motor,
vocational, socialization and communication.
*Collect data documenting student behavior for instructional purposes.
*Write anecdotal information concerning student behavior.
*Assist teacher with implementation and adherence to student's IEP.
*Assist classroom teacher with other tasks as needed.
*Attendance and punctuality is essential.
*Maintain student/family confidentiality.
*Commitment to company values and adherence to policies.
*Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
*High School Diploma or GED.
*NYS Certification of at least a Level 1 Teaching Assistant.
*Experience working with special needs children.
*Ability to run.
*Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb items.
*Clearance through state mandated Background/Fingerprint Check(s).
*Must be able to communicate effectively with others and individuals served.
*Qualifications are subject to change in accordance with government regulations.
