Resident Supervisor

Our client is seeking a motivated and responsible professional to work as Resident Supervisor with the juvenile population in the Shenandoah Valley area.
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Provide direct supervision, custody, control, and activities of the residents placed in the juvenile center and daily activities for youth of a single pod.
* Central control operator and pod staff will have responsibilities defined by Post Orders.
* Assist in the development and implementation of the facility programming.
* Assist in intake and release procedures and maintains accurate written paperwork. Also Interviews new residents regarding personal data, legal status and provides orientation to juvenile center rules and procedures.
* Provide coverage and assistance in all secure areas of the facility. Must be willing to work shifts on a rotating basis.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
* Minimum of a High School Diploma or a degree from an accredited two-year program in criminal justice, social sciences, or other related field. A four-year degree is preferred.
* Possess sound practical knowledge of criminal and anti-social behavior, decision- making and crisis management skills, and sound working knowledge of the English language.
* Ability to effectively document events and situations and input data using a standard computer keyboard at a minimum rate of 15 words per minute
* Understand and operate sophisticated communications and security equipment, policies, procedures and services at the Center.
* Possess mental alertness and a keen awareness of surroundings
* Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with co-workers and the general public.
* Working knowledge of the behaviors of delinquent or maladjusted juveniles and appropriate responses to those behaviors.
* Relevant experience and/or qualifications to work with children with special needs.
