SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
The Occupational Therapists (OTs) provide specialized services to support the functional independence, developmental growth, and overall well-being of students or residents with disabilities or developmental delays. They complete assessments, develop and implement individualized intervention plans, perform treatments, monitor progress, and provide training for clients and staff. OTs communicate effectively with team members, families, and direct support staff, document therapy sessions and reports, attend meetings as needed, and ensure compliance with Texas OT licensure rules, HHSC, and facility policies.
CLIENT'S REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 13 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (or higher) from an accredited program
- Maintain a current Occupational Therapist license with the State of Texas and all required certifications, including CEUs for licensure
- Must be in good standing with the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and ADA in educational settings
- Develop and implement IEP goals in collaboration with the ARD/IEP team
- Provide direct and consultative OT services in individual, group, and classroom settings
- Complete occupational therapy assessments and program planning for individuals with a variety of diagnoses
- Perform treatments, monitor progress, and provide training for clients and staff
- Document therapy sessions, progress notes, and reports accurately and within required deadlines
- Attend meetings and provide information as needed to ensure coordinated care
- Communicate effectively with team members, families, and direct support staff, including teaching staff in the homes
- Conduct themselves in accordance with Texas OT licensure rules and regulations
- Abide by the policies and regulations of HHSC and the Facility
